Tips & Warnings
Hemp cloth is sometimes difficult to find in the United States due to strict laws regulating its commercial availability. It's sometimes possible to find it at craft stores or hobby shops. If you can't find it in your local area, ask the owner of the local craft store whether she knows of any overseas sources where it can be ordered.
The thicker the cork tile, the softer and more comfortable your hemp sandals will be. If the cork tile is too thick for the scissors, cut through it with a sharp craft knife.
Keep the cork tiles on your sandals clean by periodically wiping them with a lukewarm, damp cloth on both sides. If the hemp cloth gets too stained, you can use a flat-edged knife or strong staple remover to take out the staples, and then put the cloth in the washing machine and dryer. It won't shrink. Just staple it back to the cork tile when it's clean again.
